FLOWER VESSELS BY FROG VALLEY POTTERY
Frog Valley flower vessels are wheel thrown stoneware pots with a brass pin frog for flower arranging. These vesatile vessels can be used for arranging fresh or dried flowers. When used properly, the fresh flowers you arrange in these pots will last twice as long, or even longer, than flowers arranged in the average vase. (For flower vessel use instructions, please see the bottom of this page.)

All pricing shown on this page is retail.

Ikebana Vessels
Ikebana is a word for the Japanese art of flower arranging with special attention to balance, harmony and form. This practice is often used in the discipline of feng-shui in which the flower arranger uses the arrangement to create a bridge that reaches between heaven and earth. These flower vessels have been created for you to use in your own heavenly flower arrangements.

How to Use Your Flower Vessel
Fill you flower vessel with water to the top of the flower frog, no deeper. Look at the frsh flowers that you would like to put into your arrangement. Pick up the first flower you would like to put into the vessel and trim it to the desired length using florist's dykes or very sharp scissors. If the stem of the flower is thick and hollow you can gently push it down onto a pin in the frog. Thin stemmed flowers can be balanced between pins. Repeat this for each flower individually.

To care for your flowers: Check the flowers daily and not the color of the stem at the level of the pins. If these stems begin to turn dark green then they are clotting. Once a stem clots it no longer absorbs water, so pull the flowers from the vessels, nip the greem bit off with florist's dykes or very sharp scissors and return them to the flower vessel. Refill the water to the top of the pin frog.

Helpful Flower Hints

  • Arrange your flowers as soon as possible, whether you have purchased or picked.
  • Handle flowers by the stem. Touching delicate petals can bruise them and cause them to die.
  • Water flowers daily. A dime store ketchup bottle makes a nice watering bottle that reaches in the vessel without disturbing the arrangement.
  • An aspirin dissolved in 16 oz. of water can be used to water your arrangement and may extend the life of your flowers.
