Mark Schwenk, one of the two founders of Frog Valley Artisans, studied photography since childhood working with many great photographers in the Washington DC area. After moving to Pittsburgh he studied at the Art Institute and later opened his own studio. After moving to Berkeley Springs in 1996 he has branched out into metal sculpture and is known throughout the East Coast for his whimisical sculptures, forged metal sculpture and fine architectural iron work. He continues to create fine art photography and sculpture and participates in numerous gallery shows up and down the east coast. His work can be found at Tamarack the Best of West Virginia and at other fine galleries and shops in the region.
Serving as a board member on the Tamarack Foundation he helps to promote art and artisans in West Virginia. Mark is also President of the Board of Directors for the Berkeley Springs Studio Tour and was recognized by Gov. Jos. Manchin and Rep. Capito for his contribution to economic development in the arts in West Virginia.
